It was indeed a pleasure to hold the first ever Little Orators- an interschool oratory
competition for students of Class VII and VIII. The purpose of Little Orators is
to give the youngsters a common platform to test, nurture and hone their oratorial
skills. Five students from each school took part in a free workshop followed by
a final round in which a total of 75 students delivered speeches that had been sent
to the schools in advance and had been allocated to the students by the schools.
The speeches in the finals were judged on the following criteria:
- 1) Body Language, Energy, Stature, Pose , Audience Inclusion
- 2) Use of Pause and Variation in speed to good effect
- 3) Pronunciation and clarity of voice
- 4) Knowing the speech and what to speak ( does the speech hold up)
- 5) Expression of Emotion conveys Sincerity and Understanding of Speech
Prizes were given based on the best speeches for each topic, and also on totals
marks obtained by the participants of each school, which gave us the best, runner
up and second runner up school.
